PortSIP is one alternative softphone app that you can use on your mobile phone. Follow the instructions below to register your number with the softphone app.
Add a password to your SIPcity number. Log in to your SIPcity portal, then go to Switchboard and click on your number. Under Profile in the number settings, turn on the restricted toggle and add a password. Take note of this password, as you will need it to log in to the app later.
Go to your Google Play Store and Download the PortSIP Softphone App.
Once you open the app, it will ask you to grant permission for Camera, Microphone, etc. You need to grant access to everything; otherwise, the app won't work.
Next, you will be directed to the login page. Use your number as the username, enter the password you set for that number in step 1, and set the host/domain as call.sipcity.com.au. See the sample below:
Username: 61xxxxxxxxx, Password: xxxxx, Host/domain: call.sipcity.com.au
Once you’re logged in, go to settings on the lower right corner and click on advanced.
Once you are in advanced, scroll down and look for these settings and enable all of the settings in the notification and other sections.
Then lastly, click on battery usage, and when a pop-up appears, click on allow. This will keep the app running in the background even when your phone is locked to ensure that you will still receive calls even when you are not actively using the app.
Go back to the home page and start making calls!
